THE HOST PLAYBOOK

A great game night
leaves room for everyone.

You do not need an elaborate setup. A shared screen, a little space and a few ground rules are enough. SpinTheWheelz keeps the turns moving while you keep the room comfortable.

Before the first spin

  1. Choose individual players or teams. Enter one name per line. For a larger group, teams keep the scorecard readable and give quieter players someone to work with.
  2. Choose the right pack. Silent cinema is physical and word-free. Bright sparks is a short general-knowledge quiz. Make a scene rewards imagination rather than a particular answer.
  3. Agree on the timer. Forty-five seconds is a starting point. Give younger players or anyone who wants thinking time a longer turn. There is no need to use the timer at all.
  4. Define a completed challenge. In charades, a clear guess earns the point. For creative tasks, a sincere attempt can be enough. Set that expectation now, rather than debating it mid-turn.

A turn, from start to finish

The highlighted player spins. When the wheel stops, read the challenge. For charades, let only the performer see the screen: the prompt is visible, so a shared display would spoil the guess. Start the timer when everyone is ready. Select “Got it! +1” or “Pass · 0” to advance to the next player.

A pass costs nothing. Anyone can pass for any reason, with no explanation. The timer makes a short sound only when sound is turned on; reaching zero does not change the score or move the game forward.

Three ways to host

The after-dinner mini game

Use two teams, two rounds and a 30-second timer. Choose Silent cinema for a quick laugh. Keep one person on score duty so the performers can focus on the room.

The rainy-afternoon remix

Choose Make a scene and give everyone a full minute. Treat each completed attempt as a point. Let players work in pairs if performing alone feels awkward.

The calm quiz corner

Choose Bright sparks with no timer. Read the question, let the team discuss, then reveal the answer. The host awards the point manually. Once you know the twelve questions, switch packs or write a new custom set.

Keeping the game fair

Each player gets one turn per round, even if a previous player passes. Every available prompt has an equal chance on each spin, and used prompts stay out until the entire pack has been drawn. Random selection is for casual play, not an audited draw or a contest with prizes.

If you tap the wrong scoring button, Undo restores the previous challenge and score. It also removes any unscored challenge currently on screen. It will not restore a running timer, which is safer than unexpectedly counting down.

Leaving and coming back

Your scorecard and current challenge are saved in this browser when storage is available. Returning resumes the game with the timer paused. If you were in the middle of a spin, its selected challenge is restored. Clearing browser data, private browsing rules or a different device can remove or hide the saved session.

Read how local storage works, or browse the game pack guide before choosing your next round.
